The Story Behind the Sound
Cole The Bull is a singer-songwriter from Utah making what he calls Grunge Americana. Country storytelling with the grit of rock, punk, and the music that taught him songs don’t have to be polished to mean something.
Cole grew up between Orem and St. George, always a storyteller long before he knew that was what he was doing. Music was around from the beginning, from Waylon Jennings records as a kid to picking up drums and guitar, but becoming an artist was never the obvious plan. He chased a lot of different lives first: football, rodeo, bodybuilding, business, college, even a path toward medical school. On paper, he was moving forward. Somewhere along the way, though, he realized achievement and purpose weren’t always the same thing.
That realization eventually pulled him back to music. After spending time traveling through Europe, Cole started asking a simpler question: what actually makes me feel alive? The answer kept coming back to writing songs. What began privately in bedrooms and voice memos turned into local shows, songwriter rooms, trips to Nashville, performances at places like the Bluebird Cafe, and eventually working with producer Sergio Sanchez on his first official releases.
In 2026, that next chapter started taking shape fast. Cole played his first headline show at Metro Music Hall in Salt Lake City, and started working with Waylon Barnes and the C2 team on the streaming and audience growth side of the project. He's currently piecing together a live band to hit the road with. The goal has been to build something that lasts, not just chase one big moment.
Cole The Bull, above all, will always remain true to one thing. Stories about ordinary people carrying more than anyone realizes, about getting out, growing up, chasing something bigger, and figuring out who you are when the life you were handed doesn’t quite fit.
Utah is a big part of that identity. Cole wants to represent the people, landscape, and culture he grew up around without pretending to be something he isn’t. The goal isn’t just fame. It’s to build songs, shows, and a community that makes people feel seen, and to bring a little more honesty and rock and roll back into country music.
